It’s the end of January already and winter is flying by (good!). Cabin fever is setting in and dreams of Spring fishing are front and center. Puttering around getting things ready for April. I did my monthly charge of the boat batteries in the garage and ordered some parts for some Abu Garcia Ambassadeur reels that I am going to be putting back into service this year. They are very old school so who knows if I will withstand all the backlashes I expect to get. One of the reels’ level wind feature is intermittent so I had to order a new “pawl” for it. I had to look up that word. It is not something you use in your daily lexicon. I also ordered some new drag washers to see if I could tighten up the drag a little bit more. Who knows? If it gets too involved with the rehab I might skip the drag update, but the pawl is a must-have.
I am also going to renew my membership to the Gardiner Sportsman’s Club so I can continue to use their boat launch. The launch is in pretty rough shape, but the location and fishing on that stretch of the Cobbosseecontee Stream is fantastic.
I ordered some stuff from Temu again. It’s always an adventure ordering from a Chinese company but their prices are unbeatable and I had one good experience from them so I’m going to try it again. Ordering from Amazon which sells a lot of Chinese goods is different than ordering directly from China. Hopefully the package will arrive this week. I’ll fill you in on what comes and my impression of the items.
That’s it for now. Cheers.
